ROBERT GEORGE RAVER

Robert G. Raver, age 47, of Lewistown, Montana and formerly of Craig, passed away on Friday, January 6th, 1989, at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington, after a lengthy illness. “Bob” was born on August 8th, 1941, at Oakland, Nebraska to George W. and Nettie Elizabeth (Snare) Raver. He attended Craig high School, where he graduated in 1959. Bob then attended Wayne State College, from which he graduated in 1965.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Elliott on July 24th, 1965, at Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in Neola, Iowa from 1965 through the spring of 1974, where Bob was employed by the Neola School System in the capacity of teacher, counselor and principal. In the fall of 1974, the couple moved to Hardin, Montana, where he was Principal until moving to Lewistown, Montana in 1980. Bob was Principal for the Fergus County High School, District-1 at Lewistown from the fall of 1980 until his illness forced him to retire just last month. He served as Boy Scout Troopmaster while at Neola, Iowa; was a member of Kiwanis International; and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce at Lewistown, Montana. Bob was a Past-President of the Montana Association of Secondary School Principals and the School Administrators of Montana.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Raver of Lewistown, Montana; four children, Mark, Amy, Kelley and Tracy Raver, all of Lewistown; three brothers, Roger Raver of Craig, Richard Raver of Bellevue and Ronald Raver of Cheney, Washington; his mother, Betty Raver of Craig; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father, George W. Raver in February of 1981.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10th, 989 at the Craig Presbyterian Church in Craig with Rev. Dr. Hal Smith officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery. The family has asked that memorials be made to the Bob Raver Memorial Fund at Fergus County High School in Lewistown, Montana for a trophy case and library improvement. Arrangements were by Hamel & Peck Funeral Home of Tekamah.
