ALVA J. RAY, 60

Services for Alva J. Ray, 60 of Fremont who died December 22, 1994 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha were Saturday, December 24 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Brian Kottas of First United Methodist Church in Fremont officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery at Fremont.

Alva J. Ray was born October 25, 1934 in Winnebago, Nebraska. She grew up in rural Burt County and attended elementary school in Burt County. She was a 1953 graduate of Tekamah High School.

While living near Tekamah she worked at the former Octagon Café as a waitress. She then worked at the former Campbell Soup Co. in Fremont for 20 years.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fremont, the Order of Eastern Star Arbor Vitae Chapter No. 92 of Fremont. She was a former Cub Scout den mother and she witnessed the signing of wills for an attorney for several years.

She married Dale S. Ray may 25, 1953 at Tekamah. After her marriage she lived in the Blair and Tekamah area until 1959 when she moved to Cedar Bluffs. Later that year she moved to Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Caroline Snyder Funkhouser.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; three sons, Gene of Hastings, Mike of Fremont and Don of Kearney; two sisters, Deloris Funkhouser of Fremont and Alice Weberg of Valley; a half-brother, Wilbur Funkhouser; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeff Ray, John E. Snyder, Lawrence Snyder, Wendel Snyder, Tim White and Dennis Weberg.
