Lyle Edward Martin was born August 6, 1912, west of Omaha to Edward W. and Catherine Schaub Martin. He went to grade school at J-2, and attended high school in Gretna.

Lyle attended the Farm Operator Short Course at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and farmed all of his life in Sarpy County.

He died unexpectedly March 15, 1989.

His parents and two sisters, Jeannette and Marilyn, preceded him in death.

Survivors include three brothers, Thomas Dale of Millard, Richard Sterling of Elkhorn and Ted of Arlington; two sisters, Eula Bee Corban of New York City, and Harriet Black of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and by nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at Swanson Funeral Home in Elkhorn March 18; Rev. Bill Ritter officiated. Swanson Funeral Home, Elkhorn, handled the arrangements.
