Robert F. Martin, 74

Robert F. Martin, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at his home in Blair.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Blair.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Robert F. “Bob” Martin was born Dec. 22, 1935, at Fort Lewis, Wash., to Paul and Catherine (Nichols) Martin.

On Sept. 10, 1959, he married Margaret Robinson in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Mr. Martin was a June 1957 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served as an officer in the Signal Corps from 1957 until 1962. He attended law school at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, graduating in 1964. He practiced law from 1964 until 2009.

He served five years as the half-time Staff Judge Advocate for the Nebraska Army National Guard, or senior legal military advisor for the Nebraska Adjutant General and his staff. He served 10 years as a part-time military judge. He served eight years as a part-time state coordinator for admissions for Nebraska for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was a part-time teacher, CCD instructor, and past substitute teacher at Brownell-Talbot School in Omaha. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1996-2009, when not in the law office.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Joni of Hastings, George of Omaha, Dan and Deb of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Lawrence and Yvette, also of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Lee Kolbo of Papillion; 12 grandchildren, Lizzie, John, Clara, Tommy and James Kolbo, Danyele, Katie and Taylor Martin, Alex, Jared and Savana Martin, and Blair Martin; one great-grandchild, Lani Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Marlene of Leesburg, Fla.; sister, Betty Donoghue of Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church or the Blair Family YMCA.
