Graveside services were held Monday, August 19 at the Blair Cemetery for Ruth Irene Martin, 84 who died August 17,1991 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa. Rev. David Ludwick officiated.

Ruth Irene Martin was born May 17, 1907 in Blair to Ramon Clyde and Nellie Irene Greeno Carter. She grew up near Nelson, Nebraska where she graduated from high school. She then attended Dana College in Blair for a year, meeting her first husband there.

She married Frimodt Johannes “Jack” Kofoid December 28, 1927. They had three children, Ramon, Charles and Shirley. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She married Alvie Clagget in 1968. He preceded her in death in 1969.

She then married Lyle Thomas Martin in 1971. He preceded her in death in 1981.

During her lifetime she worked in a bakery for many years and then was a licensed practical nurse.

She moved to Crown Colony in Lamoni in 1984. She attended the Lamoni United Methodist Church until her health prevented her from doing so.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents, a son, Ramon; a daughter, Shirley; two grandchildren; two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Helen Kofoid of Pittsburg, Kansas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Mae and Joe Timmerman of Bellingham, Washington and Clyda and Benton Wallace of Tacoma, Washington; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to First Christian Church in Blair.

Slade-O-Donnell Funeral Home in Leon and Lamoni, Iowa, were in charge of arrangements.
