FORMER ARLINGTON WOMAN IN FATAL PLANE CRASH

A native of Arlington, Miss Luella Reckmeyer, about 50 years of age, was among the 95 persons killed Thursday in the crash of an American jetliner near Idlewide Airport in New York.

Miss Reckmeyer was reportedly enroute to California on business. She was a consultant for the American Heart Association in New York City.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Homer Miller; uncle, William Reckmeyer, both of Arlington. Another sister, Margaret lives in Washington, D.C.

She graduated from the University of Nebraska and received her Masters Degree from the University of Iowa. She served as girls Physical Education director at Iowa Wesleyan for several years. During World War II she served as American Red Cross Director in the Mediterranean. In 1951 she served as official observer of the United Nations for the United Church Women.

MEMORIAL SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR LUELLA RICKMEYER(sp)

Memorial services were held Sunday at the Arlington Methodist Church for Miss Luella Reckmeyer of New York City.

Miss Reckmeyer was killed when a jet crashed at Idlewild International Airport, New York City, March 1st. Ninety-five were killed in the crash.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reckmeyer of Arlington. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Homer Miller of Arlington and Miss Margaret Reckmeyer, Washington, D.C.
