Margaret M. Reckmeyer, 78, of Lincoln died Tuesday, November 24, 1987, in Lincoln.

Margaret was born December 23, 1908, in Arlington, and was a graduate of Arlington High School. She received her bachelor of arts degree from the School of Journalism, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, in 1931, where she was affiliated with Beta Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity.

She worked for newspapers in Holdrege, Hastings and for the Farm Security Administration in Lincoln and Washington, D.C.

During World War II, she worked for the Board of Economic Warfare in Washington, D.C. and London.

Margaret was with the War Department in Germany, and after the war, she returned to Washington D.C. She retired from the CIA in 1969, and was a research analyst.

She moved to Lincoln in 1983. She had lived in Holdrege, Hastings, Washington, D.C., Germany and London.

Margaret was a member of the Nebraska Historical Society, Women’s Overseas Service League and Women in Communications.

Survivors include a nephew, Jim Miller of Lincoln, and three great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry L. and Matilda (Whitlock) Reckmeyer, and by two sisters, Luella Reckmeyer and Frances Miller.

Services were held Friday, November 27, 1987, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.

Rev. Robert Saunders of the Arlington Community Church officiated. Organist was Mrs. Ruby House. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the donor’s favorite charity.
