ARLINGTON NEWS

Wm. Reckmeyer, sr., 81, died at his home early Saturday morning following an illness of several weeks. He fell and broke his hip a few weeks ago and had gradually grown weeker(sp). Mr. Reckmeyer established one of the earliest businesses in Arlington, then known as Belle Creek. His two sons, William, jr., and Henry have managed the hardware, furniture and undertaking business that he started. He was born in Germany in 1841 and came to America with his parents five years later. During the Civil War he served with the northern side.

Surviving are four children, William, Henry, Mrs. John Nibbe and Mrs. Henry Dorbecker. His wife preceded him in death in February. The funeral was held from the German Methodist church Monday at 2:00 o’clock.
