Dora Paulsen, 86, of Blair, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation begins 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m.

Dora E Paulsen was born March 11, 1915, at Underwood, Iowa, to Frank and Mary (Christensen) Nelson. She moved to Colon, S.D,, in her infancy. She attended school in Colon and, in 1928, moved to the Herman area.

She graduated from Herman High School and attended two years at Dana College. She taught in the rural school districts in Washington and Burt County for four years, and then was a substitute teacher for 30 years.

On May 23, 1940, she married S. Harold Paulsen at Blair.

Mrs. Paulsen was a member of the First Lutheran Church, member of the Bench Community, and was a permanent member and Gold Star Sister in the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No 274 of Herman.

She is survived by her husband, S. Harold Paulsen, three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold C. and Georgiann Paulsen of Herman, Clifford and Kathleen Paulsen of Davidson, N.C., and Vaden and Kathi Paulsen of Tulsa, Okla., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mildred (Mrs. Bill) Shumaker of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Frank and George Nelson, and one sister, Vera Mckay.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
