Carla (Juul) Hovendick, 102, of Herman died Friday, August 30, 2013 at Brighton Gardens in Omaha. Services will be 2 p.m Wednesday, September 4, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Visitation will begin 3 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carla Juul was born June 22, 1911, in Omaha, to Carl and Elizabeth (Petersen) Juul.

As a child, she moved to the farm near Blair and attended summer school.

In September of 1931, she married William Hovendick.

She taught daily Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for many years. She loved gardening and flowers.

She lived on the farm until she was 100 years old and then moved to Westgate assisted living in Omaha. The last two months, she had been at Brighton Gardens.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Lillian Hovendick of Lander, Wyo., and David and Carol Hovendick of Irvington; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Donald Marvin of Omaha; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Don Van Dyke of Omaha; five grandchildren, Steven (Brenda) Hovendick of Lander, Wyo., Mary (Chris) Helland of Glasgow, Mont., Lisa Hovendick of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Todd Hansen of Blair, Trent (Jenny) Hansen of Windsor, Colo., and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1967; and son, Donald, in 1946; sisters, Anna Petersen, Esther Nielsen, Edna McCambridge; and brother, Harold Juul.

Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice program.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be 2pm Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home, Blair.

VISITATION will begin 3pm Tuesday, with family Receiving friends 6-8pm at the Funeral Home.
