Oliver Earl "Bud" Christensen, 94, of Washington, Pa., died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. Services were Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Washington, Pa.

Oliver Earl Christensen was born June 26, 1919, in Washington, Neb., the son of George and Annie Christensen.

He attended Respin, Mattis and Kennard schools.

He joined the Coast Guard at the age of 20.

He married Mary Hazlett in Florida on Dec. 10, 1942. They made their home in Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Larry; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Chapman of Blair.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Bill and Howard; and sisters, Mabel Nelson and Hazel Gregerson.
