BLAIR WOMAN’S FATHER DIES

Funeral services were Thursday, July 14, at First Christian Church at Onawa, Iowa, for Everett Reed, 77, of Onawa, who died at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, July 12, 1983, after a lengthy illness.

The Rev. Jerry Quandt officiated. Burial was in the Onawa Cemetery.

Everett Reed was born at Onawa on November 8, 1905, to George and Alice Gunsolley Reed. He married Leone DeLashmutt on February 27, 1929 at Whiting, Iowa.

The couple farmed in the area until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of the First Christian Church at Onawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one half-brother.

He is survived by his wife, Leona, Onawa; five daughters, Mrs. Jack (Katherine) Carlson of Whiting; Mrs. Carroll (Jeanne) Johnson of Moorhead, Iowa; Mrs. Dale (Colleen) Malmberg of Thurston, Nebraska; Mrs. Lee (Shirley) Jensen of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Mrs. Carleton (Donna) Ball of Blair. Twenty-one grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Eva) Davis and Mrs. Celia Miller, both of Onawa; and two brothers, Frank Reed of Los Angeles, California, and George Reed of Whittier, California, also survive him.

Mrs. Elvin Matthews was organist. The grandchildren sang “How Great Thou Art.”

Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa was in charge of arrangements.
