The death of Mrs. Henry Schmidt which occurred at their farm home three miles southeast of here on Wednesday afternoon, January 10th this community and a devoted husband and three children and eight grandchildren mourn the loss of a faithful friend, wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. Minne Kruger was born almost upon the identical spot where she died fifty-seven years ago. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Kruger, now deceased were among the first settlers of this community. She was married to Henry Schmidt in 1885 and they resided in Arlington for a number of years where Mr. Schmidt was engaged in the farm implement business. Later they moved to the old home farm where they have continuously resided since. Five children were born to the union. Three sons and one daughter have preceded the mother to the great beyond. She has been afflicted with goiter for several years past which was the direct cause of her death. She was a faithful believer in the Lutheran faith and a devout Christian woman who always bore her suffering with a smile. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot near the Brown Creek Lutheran church of which she had been almost a lifelong member following the funeral services at the church on Saturday afternoon which were conducted by Rev. G.W. Wolters. The church was over filled with sorrowing relatives and friends from far and near and the floral tributes were profuse and beautiful.
