# 2 - - from The Pilot, December 11, 1912

Mr. and Mrs. Gus D. Reeh lost their youngest son, Byron, from appendicitis early Monday morning. The little fellow, ten years of age, was taken sick the day after Thanksgiving Day and Dr. Allison operated on him Saturday evening, assisted by Dr. Murdoch. A deep seated abscess had formed and it was found impossible to drain sufficient pus away to prevent infection. He lived for 36 hours but finally succumbed to the poisons. The funeral will be held at the house at 10:30 today and a short service at the Christian church as soon as the procession arrives, Rev. G.W. Stansbury officiating. This is the first death out of a family of eight children and Mr. and Mrs. Reeh have the sympathy of all in this their first great grief.
