Bernard J. Maslowsky, Jr., 67

Private graveside services were held for Bernard Joseph Maslowsky, Jr. on Tuesday, April 18, 1989, at the Fort Calhoun Cemetery in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska.

Bernard, known as Muscles, Barney, B.J. or Bernie by his many friends, was born June 12, 1921, in Randolph, Nebraska, to Bernard Joseph and Mary Susan “Mazie” Maslowsky. He attended school in Randolph, Nebraska and married LaVern Winkelbauer July 16, 1940. After his marriage, he moved to the Omaha area where he and his family resided for 29 years.

Bernard and his family moved to their acreage, Muscles Mission, southeast of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, in the fall of 1969. Bernard enjoyed giving horse drawn hayrack and sleigh rides for many during his years in the Fort Calhoun area.

Bernard is survived by his wife, LaVern; five sons, Tom and his wife, Judy, of Omaha; Ron of Omaha; Bernie and his wife, Janet of Washington, Nebraska; Rick and his wife, Sarah of Kennard, Nebraska; Nick of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; and one daughter, Mary of Omaha.

Five grandchildren, Misty, Renee, Jessica, Justin and Ian; one great grandson, Todd; one brother, Tom and his wife Ketti of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister, Margaret Ann and her husband Jack of Abilene, Texas and many friends also survive him.

Richard Sievers of Fort Calhoun officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were Aage Jensen, Jim Knag, and Paul Kruger of Fort Calhoun, and Ray Bena of Omaha.
