Esther J. Mason, 91

Esther J. Mason, 91, of Santa Fe, N.M., died on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Rupert Hilgenkamp of rural Arlington. A frequent visitor to the area, she suffered a debilitating stroke on January 2, 2000, while spending the holidays with her family in Arlington.

A private family service was held in the home on September 5, 2000. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe.

Esther Jensen was born on Jan. 13, 1909, in Omaha.

She graduated from Omaha Technical High school in 1925, and worked briefly as a bookkeeper at Roberts Dairy. When the third sibling was diagnosed with tuberculosis, the family moved to Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her children, Karen and Rupert Hilgenkamp of Arlington, Erik J. Mason, David O. and Ina Mason, and Kathy Mason, all of Santa Fe, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Mason of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters, and her husband of 51 years, William W. “Bill” Mason, and her oldest son, William W. Mason II.
