Owen Mason

Mr. Owen Mason was born near Springfield, Ohio, June 15, 1827, and died at his home in Blair, Nebr., Oct. 29, 1916. In early youth he moved with his parents to Illinois, and later to Iowa. May 18, 1862, he was married to Miss Phoebe Clawges, who died May 10, this year. Three children were born to them – David W., Anna R. Stunkard, widow of George Stunkard, L. Eva Gundy, widow of Melvin Gundy, all of Blair.

Deceased was a member of the Methodist church for a great many years. Funeral services were held at the home, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. H. Underwood, and interment made in the Blair Cemetery.

Owen Mason died at his home in this city last Saturday and the funeral was held at the house at 2 o’clock, Monday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood, of the Methodist church, officiating. Mr. Mason was born near Springfield, Ohio, June 15th, 1827, and was therefore past 89 years of age. In early youth he moved with his parents to Illinois and later to Iowa, where he was married to Miss Phebe Clawges, whose death occurred May 10th of this year. They came to this city in 1872. Three children were born to them, David W., Anna R. Stunkard, widow of George Stunkard, and L. Eva Gundy, widow of Melvin Gundy, all of this city. Mr. Mason was a kindly old gentleman whom everyone loved for his gentle ways and gracious manner. He has not been himself since the death of his companion last May, and was anxious to pass on and be with her on the other side.
