Walter W. Jahnel, 91

Former Tekamah resident, Walter W. Jahnel, 91, of Blair, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 9, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah. Interment was at the Blair Cemetery.

Walter W. Jahnel was born May 22, 1909, in Kennard to Fritz and Mary (Schmidt) Jahnel. He attended the Sunnyside School in rural Kennard.

On Dec. 20, 1941, he married Ruth Widener in Omaha.

Mr. Jahnel farmed in the Tekamah area most of his life. Besides his farming, her loved to bowl and go fishing. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Fremont, daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dean Raabe of Fremont, Marilyn and Curtis Petersen of Carrollton, Texas; three grand-daughters, five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, and a brother, Robert Jahnel of Blair.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Memorials are suggested to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tekamah.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
