EARL REID, 80, DIED AT BLAIR HOSPITAL JUNE 15

Earl Clifford Reid, long time resident of Herman, Nebraska passed away June 15, 1974 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Mr. Reid was born April 6, 1894 at Fontanelle, Nebraska, son of Claude and Gertrude Reid. Earl lived all of his life in Herman until he went to Neosho, Missouri a year ago to be near his daughter, Marjorie. Mr. Reid was married to Ellen Jane Roberts on July 10, 1913. She preceded him in death. He served as a Rural Mail Carrier out of the Herman Post Office for 43 years.

Mr. Reid is a 50-year member of the American Legion. He enlisted in the United States Marines in June 1918. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Herman.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bryan (Marjorie) Fenton of Neosho, Missouri; 2 grandchildren, Bryan Richard Fenton of Oswego, Kansas and Rita Sue Wass of Wenatchee, Washington; and 2 great-grandchildren, Tina Fenton and Katie Wass. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Alice Long of Herman, Marian Sherwood of Omaha; 2 brothers, George Reid and Byron Reid of Herman and a brother Gerald Reid preceded him in death, and several nieces.

Memorial services were held at the Herman Legion Hall, Monday, June 17, 1974, with Pastor Zack Kleinsasser of the Herman Federated Church officiating at the services. Pallbearers were: Kenyon Barber, Frank Korshoj, Roy C. Hansen, Howard Laughlin, Donald Cain and Malvern West.

Concluding services were held at the Herman Cemetery.
