J.J.Rennerfeldt, 81, of Papillion, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in Omaha.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at First United Methodist Church in Oakland.

Joyce Jerome “Jay” Rennerfeldt was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Oakland to Wallace and Ethel (Johnson) Rennerfeldt. He was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland, and attended Oakland Public Schools. He lived in Oakland until 1962, then moved with his family to Omaha. In 1975, he moved to Papillion.

He worked in farming, and Force Hardware and Holmquist Grain and Lumber in Oakland. He later worked as a sheetmetal mechanic in Omaha until his retirement.

He was a 10-year member of the Oakland Fire Department and Rescue Squad; was a member of the Masonic Lodge; and Sheetmetal Union No. 3. He is remembered as “Mr. Fix It.” He was always ready to help anyone fix anything, anytime and anywhere, as well as figuring out new uses for duct tape, toggle _______________ Gorilla glue. (Some words are cut off of this article.) His family notes that “you knew when you had been ‘Jayed.’ “ He was also a collector of fasteners and tools.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Marla Rennerfeldt of Blair; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne Delaney and Marci and Mark Metzger, all of Bellevue; and Sheri and Michael Baum of Valley; eight grandchildren and their families; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Margaret Rennerfeldt of Oakland; Harland and Sally Rennerfeldt of West Point; and Dallas and Marlene Rennerfeldt of Helena, Mont.; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Mel Newill of Missoula, Mon.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, “Bud” and Virginia Rutledge of Plainview; David and Carol Rutledge of Westminster, Colo.; and Mary Holt of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Rennerfeldt, and a brother-in-law, Chuck Holt.

Memorials are suggested to the Pioneer Cemetery Fund, c/o Farmers and Merchants Bank, 204 N. Main Street, West Point, NE.
