Mrs. Paul Masters Died In Omaha Friday, March 23

Bessie I. Masters (Mrs. Paul Masters) died at an Omaha hospital last Friday, March 23rd. She had been in failing health for more than a year.

Mrs. Masters was a native of Kennard, having been born there December 23, 1909. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Katherine Miller, early day residents of the Kennard area.

She was married to Paul Masters at Blair on July 24, 1926 and the couple engaged in farming. After leaving the farm and moving to Blair, Mrs. Masters became a linotype operator and for many years was employed by the Blair Newspapers. She remained at that work until 1968 when the newspapers changed to offset printing and no longer used linotypes. Since that time she has lived in retirement.

She was a member of the Emmaus Lutheran Church at Kennard.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, and by two sons and three daughters. The sons are John Master of Omaha and Robert Masters of Kennard. The daughters are Miss Ruby Masters of Blair, Mrs. Betty Carnes, of Blair and Mrs. Mary Vogel of Omaha.

She has three brothers who survive. They are Henry Miller, Jr. of Kennard; Howard Miller, of Omaha and Ned Miller of Sterling, Virginia. There are 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held at the Emmaus Lutheran Church at Kennard today. The Rev. Joseph C. Myers will conduct the service and interment will be made in the Kennard cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary.

Pallbearers will be Roy Rosenbaum, Roscoe Anderson, Fred Masters, Jr., Loren Masters, Lester Japp and Vernon Thompson.
