Mrs. Fred Masters’ Last Rites At Arlington Sunday

Funeral services were held at Arlington Sunday, November 12th for Mrs. Fred Masters, long-time and well-known resident of Washington County. Mrs. Masters, who had been living at the Good Samaritan Center at Scribner, died there Thursday evening, November 9th.

Lillie Woods Masters was born at Aurora, Nebraska January 13, 1885. She was 87 years of age at the time of her death.

At the age of 15 she moved with her family in a covered wagon to Wakeeta, Oklahoma where the family lived for a year and then moved to Carmon, Oklahoma.

On December 2, 1908 she was married to Fred Masters, of Gretna, Nebreaska, and they began farming on a farm south of Blair. The couple lived there for nearly fifty years, retiring in January 1954 and moving to Fremont. She made her home there until her last illness. She was hospitalized at the Dodge County Hospital in Fremont and then moved to the Good Samaritan Center at Scribner.

Mr. and Mrs. Masters became the parents of one daughter and three sons, all of whom survive her death. Her husband, Fred, survives.

The daughter is Mrs. Dorothy Thompson of Arlington. The sons are Loren of Lincoln, Fred, Jr., of Arlington and Edgar, of Columbia, Missouri. There are also eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters are living. They are Mrs. Nell Campbell of Admore, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Mae Wilson of Yukon, Oklahoma. There are also a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the United Church of Christ, in Arlington. The Rev. Bryce Hecht conducted the service and burial was made in the Arlington cemetery under the direction of the Reckmeyer Funeral Service.
