Lovell R. Pawley, 94

Lovell R. Pawley, 94, of Camarillo, Calif., died Sunday, May 17, 2009 in Camarillo.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23 in the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel, Fremont. Interment will be in Fremont’s Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ludvigsen, with a Masonic Service, open to the public, at 7 p.m. conducted by the Fremont Masonic Lodge.

Lovell R. Pawley was born June 24, 1914, in Norfolk to William R. and Bessie V. (Lovell) Pawley. He lived his early years in Madison, Norfolk, and Lincoln. He moved to Fremont with his family in 1925, later working for his father’s Pawley Oil Co. After his father’s death, Lovell and his brother, George, and their mother operated the business until selling out in 1954.

He worked in construction for two years, then moved to California where he drove a school bus. In 1962, he moved back to Fremont and worked briefly for Paul Christensen and then began driving over the road for his brother’s trucking company. He retired after working several years for Platte Valley Cement & Tile Co. (now known as Hydro Conduit). He moved to Camarillo, Calif. in 2005 to be with his family.

On Dec. 13, 1933, he married Berniece Olson in Fremont.

Mr. Pawley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He also was a member of Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 A.F.&A.M., the Scottish Rite of Omaha, Tangier Shrine Center of Omaha, Fremont Shrine Club, a Past Patron of Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 Order of Eastern Star of Fremont, and he had been a member of the Fremont Eagles Aerie 200.

He is survived by a daughter, Shirley Bowen of Camarillo; daughter-in-law, Marcella Pawley of Fremont; son-in-law, Chuck Jensen of Blair; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Wall and Scott Bowen of California, Harlan ‘Chip’ and wife, Nancy, Jensen of Texas, Diane Winters of Omaha, Jay and wife, Colleen, Jensen of Arlington, Jennifer and husband, Ray Etheridge of Florida, Kent Jensen of Omaha, Gail and husband, Gordon, Milne of Bellevue, Ray and wife, Lynn, Pawley of Massachusetts and Beth and husband, Roman, Dietrick of Snyder; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece; daughter, Marjorie Jensen; son, Dwayne; and one brother, George.

Memorials are suggested to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.
