Esther A. Pawling, 90

Services for Esther A. Pawling, 90, of Hooper, were held Feb. 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Hooper. Rev. Rodney Meske officiated. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. She died Feb. 8 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.

She was born on a farm east of Hooper and lived in the area all her life. She had been residing at the Hooper Care Center since Feb. 1992.

She married William L. Pawling on March 15, 1927 at Hooper. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the ladies aid and quilters club at the church.

Preceding her in death were her husband; an infant daughter; son Maynard Pawling; brothers Harry, Walt and Howard Stuenkel; grandchildren Tamera Pawling, Bruce Pawling and David Moseman.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Mildred Pawling of Hooper and Dale and Marion Pawling of Fremont; daughters and sons-in-law, LaRae and Duane Moseman of Hooper and Arlene Denison, Fremont; sister Ida Stuenkel of Hooper; daughter-in-law Marie Pawling of Fremont; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hooper Care Center. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge or arrangements.

Esther A. Pawling, 90, of Hooper died Wednesday, Feb 8, 1995, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County.

Esther Stuenkel was born July 2, 1904, on a farm east of Hooper. She married William Pawling March 15, 1927, in Hooper and was a lifetime resident of the Hooper area. He died July 25, 1967; she moved to Hooper Care Center in February 1992.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hooper, its ladies’ aid and the church quilters’ club.

Survivors include two sons, Duane of Hooper and Dale of Fremont; two daughter, LaRae (Mrs. Duane) Moseman of Hooper and Arlene Denison of Fremont; a sister, Ida Stuenkel of Hooper; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, three brothers and three grand-children.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Hooper. The Rev. Rodney Meske will officiate. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, and an hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the church and Hooper Care Center.
