DWIGHT W. REWERTS, 78

Dwight W. Rewerts, 78, died June 22, 2004, at his residence in Wellsburg, Iowa.

Funeral services were June 26 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Inurnment of his cremains was June 29 at West Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.

Dwight Wayne Rewerts was born Dec. 16, 1925, at home on the farm in rural Grundy County, Iowa, to Dick and Dora (Claussen) Rewerts. He attended rural Grundy County School.

On Oct. 26, 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served until Dec. 12, 1946, when he was honorably discharged. After finishing his military service, he moved to Omaha.

On March 31, 1951, he married Winona Olson at Trinity Lutheran church in Omaha.

He was employed by Northern Propane Gas Company in Omaha for 34 years, where he worked as a service manager. He retired in 1978.

In 1999, he moved back to Grundy County, and made Wellsburg his home. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha and St. John Lutheran Church in Wellsburg.

Mr. Rewerts enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Joleene Rewerts of Blair; Jerry Rewerts of Gypsum, Colo.; and Kenneth and Ester Rewerts of Proberta, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Richard Launer of Omaha; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Viola and Johnny Muller of Dumont, Iowa; Luella Eiklenborg of Parkersburg, Iowa; Mary Dixon and Joan Moore, both of Hansel, Iowa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Mildred Rewerts of Parkersburg, Iowa and Dean and Betty Rewerts of Allison, Iowa; and special friend, Carol Riebkes, of Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona, and a brother, Roy Rewerts.
