Loren Masters

Services for former Arlington resident, Loren A. Masters, 75, who died September 8, 1985, in Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Arlington Community Church. The Rev. Robert Saunders will officiate and burial will be in the Arlington Cemetery.

Masters was born November 27, 1909, in Gretna, the son of Fred and Lillie Masters, Sr. He grew up in the Blair area. After his marriage to Eula M. Adams on March 1, 1930, in Logan, Iowa, he farmed near Blair.

In 1944 they moved to the Arlington area where Masters farmed and operated a dairy. In 1952 they moved to Lincoln where he worked construction as well as for the Lincoln Schools. He retired in 1975.

Masters is survived by his wife, Eula; one son, Richard of Fremont; one daughter, Mrs. Carlin (Nila) Utterback of Arlington; two brothers Edgar of Columbia, Missouri, and Fred, Jr., of Fremont; one sister, Mrs. Vernon (Dorothy) Thompson of Arlington; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Hudson, Eugene Hinkle, Sr., William Van Dyke, Robert Muehlhausen, William Franks and James Becker.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Randall and Kirk Utterback, Kevin Govel, and Patrick, Kent and Thomas Masters.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Fund. Visitation begins 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington.
