Retired Teacher Died At Fremont Hospital

Miss Maude Masters, a lifetime resident of the Arlington area, died last Friday evening, September 12, at Memorial Community Hospital in Fremont.

Miss Masters, a member of a pioneer Arlington farm family, lived for most of her life on the family farm southeast of Arlington. Following the death of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Masters, she remained on the farm with her brothers, Glenn and Howard Masters, and they operated the farm until retirement and eventual death.

Miss Masters was born August 1, 1899, at Arlington and she lived there all her life. As a younger woman, she taught school, teaching first in Arlington and later in Omaha where she taught until her retirement.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Glenn (Edna) Brawner of Nebraska City.

She was an active worker in the Arlington Community Church and in the Omaha Teachers’ Association. She was also a long-time member of the Sarepta Chapter No. 48 of the Order of Eastern Star, at Arlington.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 15, at the Arlington Community Church, the Rev. Bryce Hecht officiating. Burial was made in the Arlington Cemetery under the direction of the Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremont.

Pallbearers were Walter Pfeiffer, Floyd Brown, John Beck, William Cook, Melvin Schmidt, and Robert Pfeiffer.

The honorary pallbearers were Herman Pfeiffer, Otto Schmidt, Leonard Thompson, George Ramser and Tom Dowell.
