Mrs. Mina Schmidt Dies Wednesday Enterprise, Blair Nebraska,26 July 1934

Mrs. Wilhelmina Schmidt, aged 85 years, passed away at the home of her son, Carl, in this city at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday after an illness of nearly two months duration.

Deceased was born January 29, 1849, in Germany and in early life came to America. She was married in Memphis, Tennessee, and she and her husband settled in Blair in 1871 where they have since resided.

Here the family was reared: Otto, now of St. Louis; Chris of Los Angeles; Emil of Denver and Carl J. of Blair. She has one sister living, Mrs. Louise Eissenman, of Mt. Vernon, Washington.

Mr. Schmidt died some years back and Mrs. Schmidt with the two sons, Chris and Carl, continued the home, later, Chris going to California when she continued to make her home with Carl.

Deceased was the real type of the pioneer mother, and lived through those early days bearing her burdens with a cheerfulness that endeared her to many old time friends who clung closely to her as age came on.

She was a real Christian woman, a member of the Lutheran church and lived the part and her passing leaves only pleasant memories with the friends who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 o’clock a.m. from the home with Rev. H.C. Jul Frese officiating and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
