Lyle Richard Mathiesen, 54 of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 25, 1997 of a heart attack at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were Monday at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

He was the brother of Ervin Mathiesen of Blair.

Mathiesen was born in Blair. He was a crew dispatcher for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha. He had lived in Des Moines for 26 years.

He was a member of the Saylor Fire Department for 20 years and had served as its fire chief. He was also a member of All Saints Parish/St. Mel’s Chapel.
