Area Farmer Died Of Gun Shot Wound

The death of a 59-year-old Fremont man has been attributed to a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

The body of Ray Pearson, 1731 N. Garfield St., was discovered in the basement of his home Monday afternoon by his wife, according to Dodge County Atty. Richard Kuhlman.

Kuhlman said the man was alone in his home when the incident occurred and that he shot himself with a rifle.

Services for Mr. Pearson, a farmer, were Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, E.C.C. Rev. Edwin Mehlaff officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Pearson was born May 16, 1911 at Spencer. He had lived in the Fremont Lone Tree Neighborhood and Arlington communities the past 28 years, previously residing in Omaha and Spencer.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Elks Club and Eagles.

Mr. Pearson and the former Helen F. Scheinost were married Dec. 24, 1939, at Papillion. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kathy; three sons, Ronald of Live Oak, Fla., Darryl and Gene of Fremont; five brothers, Victor of Mead, Clarence of Bristow, Edwin of Hornick, Iowa, Frank and Walter of Omaha; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Evelyn) Anderson of Weiser, Idaho, and Mrs. Sylvia Rader of Jefferson, Iowa.
