Cynthia Elizabeth Peck

Mrs. Shelden Peck died at her home on the farm north of Blair at 6:40 p.m. last evening of heart trouble and other complications. She had been ailing for sometime but had grown rapidly worse in the past three weeks. The end came peacefully with the night, stealing over her like a gentle slumber. The funeral will be held at the farm home at two o’clock Friday afternoon. Rev. Shick officiating. Miss Cynthia Elizabeth Loomis was born in Belfast, Allegeny county, N.Y., Nov. 27, 1846, and came west with her parents to Tama county, Iowa when seven years of age. She grew to womanhood there and was married to Shelden Peck in 1864, coming with him to this county in 1879. Of this union eight children were born: Walter and Benjamin are married and live in this county. Frederick, Ray and George live at home. The married daughters are Mabel, now Mrs. Alf. Donaldson; Blanche, now Mrs. Neum Warrick and Bertha, now Mrs. Marvin Gollehon. Deceased leaves two sisters, Mrs. J.L. Gardner, of this city, Mrs. A.S. Arm-strong of Denver, Colo., and one brother, Wm. H. Loomis of Trinidad, Colo. All but the latter will be here to attend the funeral services. Mrs. Peck was a faithful member of the Methodist church and lived a consistant Christian life. She was a devoted wife and mother and her passing will bring poignant grief to all who knew her.

The death of Mrs. Peck removes from Cuming City a good Christian mother, whose example in church work, etc., will be missed by all. Had her health been better, it was her desire to have seen regular services in the schoolhouse and a good Sunday school, with all of her children in attendance. She was a lady of refined ways and will be missed from the home very much.
