Andrew Matzen Is Buried On Saturday

Funeral services for Andrew P. Matzen of Blair were held Saturday, January 19, at Emmaus Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Rev. Kurt Sortland officiated at the services. Burial was in the German Cemetery at Bennington.

Andrew P. Matzen was born at Kennard on November 11, 1898, to August and Emma Beckman Matzen. He married Charlotte Koenig on February 25, 1920, in Blair. He died Thursday, January 17, 1980, at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Elkhorn at the age of 81. He had farmed during most of his life.

Survivors include two sons, Norman Matzen and Philip Matzen, both of Blair; and five daughters, Mrs. Don (Norma) Strand, Mesa, Arizona, Mrs. Alvin (Rue) Christensen, Omaha, Mrs. Ralph (Guenevere) Krecklow, Glenwood, Iowa, Mrs. Don (Margaret) Kammerer, Leshara, Nebraska, and Mrs. Melvin (Marilyn) Muller, Omaha. Three brothers, August Matzen, Mesa, Arizona, Chris Matzen, St. Helens, Oregon, and Wm. Matzen, Willington, Colorado; one sister, Carrie Christensen, Blair; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive him.

Organist for the services was Norma Sue Klotz. Ronald Vieselmeyer was the vocalist.

Pallbearers were Ivan Andersen, Milo Christensen, Frank Jerman, George Koenig, Arnold Matzen and Ralph Sacco.

Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for the services.
