Otto Matzen, 80

Funeral services for Otto Matzen were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Dr. Howard Bailey officiating.

Otto Matzen died at his residence on Monday, Oct. 24, 1988.

Otto Matzen was born on September 9, 1906 near Kennard, Nebraska. His parents were Emil and Olevea Matzen. He attended the Brewster School.

On December 31, 1932 he was united in marriage to Georgia Antill at Tekamah, Nebraska. They moved to a farm north west of Blair where they have resided for over 55 years. Otto passed away, Monday, October 24, 1988 at his home.

He served on the Summers School Board for fourteen years. He was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church in Blair where he attended regularly.

Otto was a livestock farmer and a good steward of the soil.

He leaves his wife Georgia, two sons, Roger Matzen Sr. and daughter-in-law Mardell, Robert Matzen Sr. and daughter-in-law Liela, one daughter, Betty Wachowicz and son-in-law Robert all of Blair.

Five grandchildren, Roger Matzen Jr. of Omaha, Karen Matzen of Blair, Deborah Matzen Brehm and husband Jeffrey of Biloxi, Mississippi, Robert Matzen Jr. and Peggy Wachowicz of Blair.

One son, Ronald Matzen preceded Otto in death in 1959. Otto leaves five sisters; Emma Hansen, Bertha Wulf, Katherine Koenig, Clara Wehrbein, all of Blair, and Alice Christensen of Omaha, two brothers Clarence of Blair and Anton of Bennington and many, many friends.
