Pauline E. Matzen, 78

Pauline E. Matzen, 78, of Blair, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard, with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Sunday, March 12, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pauline Elizabeth Matzen was born May 27, 1927, in Blair to Charles and Hazel (Hardman) McBride. She graduated from Blair High School in 1945.

On Dec. 7, 1947, she married Arnold Matzen in Ames, Iowa. For many years, Mrs. Matzen managed the McBride Nursing Homes in Blair and Fremont. After closing the Fremont nursing home in 1973, she worked at Dana College, where she thoroughly enjoyed the college students. She was known for her fabulous cooking, which she loved to share with her family and friends.

She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Donna Matzen of LeMars, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Michele and George Heeren of Tempe, Ariz.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Wayne Fisher of Iowa Falls, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Lleanna Wright of Kennard and Nila Matzen of Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; two sisters, Maxine and Kathleen; and two brothers, Frederick and Charles.

Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Donna Matzen, LeMars, IA; daughter and son-in-law, Michele and George Heeren, Tempe, AZ; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Wayne Fisher, Iowa Falls, IA; sisters-in-law, Lleanna Wright, Kennard, NE and Nila Matzen, of Blair.

SERVICES 11 am Mon. Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard, with burial in the Blair Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Visitation starts 12 pm Sun., with family receiving friends from 6-8 pm.
