Gladys Beryl Anderson, 88, of Fresno, Calif., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, in Fresno.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson was born Feb. 22, 1909 at Loretto, Neb, to Alvin and Rebecca (McCartney) Holmes. She lived in several communities in Nebraska including Kennard, Herman, Beaver Crossing, Friend, Waco, Murdock and Fullerton. She married Harry Anderson in 1929.

After World War II, she and her husband farmed near Waco. She returned to college later and earned her degree and teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She taught in several schools in Nebraska and California from 1955 to 1972. After her husband’s death in 1976, she lived in Friend before moving to Fresno.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School over the years.

Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Doris Anderson of Herman; Dan and Shirley Anderson, Bristol, Ill.; Darrell and Anne Anderson, Fairfield, Calif.; Art and Sara Anderson, Manasses, Va.; Harry and Connie Anderson, Alta Loma, Calif.; John and Nancy Anderson, Rialto, Calif.; Ron and Diana Anderson, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Rick Anderson, Salinas, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Roger Telegan, Fresno, Calif.; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Olive Anderson, Friend; and Blossom Striggow, Raytown, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; sons, David, and Gene, who died as an infant and brothers, Bryan Holmes, Bernard Holmes and Roland Holmes.
