Florence G. Maw, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at the Logan Valley Manor Nursing Home in Lyons.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Gary Fugman and Rev. Phil Sloat officiating. Interment will be in the Lyons Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Piper Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Florence Grace McKenzie was born Aug. 25, 1909, on a farm east of Bertha to Henry and Nellie (Rogers) McKenzie. She was baptized and confirmed at the Divide Center Presbyterian Church and then transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.

She attended school at Bertha, Divide Center and in Lyons. She was employed at the Bell Telephone office in Lyons.

On Sept. 18, 1925, she married Willard John Maw at a Presbyterian church in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple lived on a family farm, and later moved into Lyons.

Mrs. Maw started the Pleasant Homemakers extension club in the early 1930s, and was a member until her death.

She worked as a clerk in the McMonies store and as a salad maker at the Branding Iron. After her husband’s death, she moved to Lyons East Apartments and then into the Logan Valley Manor in May, 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean Williams; Jane and Jim Judt of Blair, Mike and Molly Williams, and Nancy and Bob Dyer; 10 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
