Clarence Maxwell Died Friday At Veterans Hospital

Clarence V. Maxwell of 1103 Nebraska street, Blair, died Friday at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha. He was 64 years of age, having been born August 29, 1912 at Tekamah.

For a number of years he was a truck driver, but more recently he has been employed by the Bohs Service Station in south Blair. He was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine and by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Crogan of Rantaul, Illinois. There are two grandchildren.

Two brothers also survive. They are William Maxwell, of Miami, Florida and Darwin Maxwell of Omaha.

Funeral services are tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Gordon Patterson conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Clarence Maxwell Died Sept. 3rd At Vets Hospital

Clarence Vayne Maxwell, the son of Walter and Kate Maxwell was born August 29, 1912, at Tekamah, Nebraska, and passed away September 3, 1976 at Veterans Hospital in Omaha, following extensive surgery. The Maxwell’s live at 1103 Nebraska Street, Blair.

He received his education in the Burt County Schools and served his country during World War II.

He was untied in marriage on September 13, 1947, to Elaine Fuller at the home of her parents in the Bertha area near Craig. To this union one daughter, Margaret Lynn, was born.

Max, as he was known to his many relatives and friends drove a truck for many years.

Since being semi-retired, due to a heart attack 7 years ago, he was employed at eh Conoco Service Stations in Fort Calhoun and Blair.

Clarence was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blair, Past Commander of the V.F.W. where he took an active part in the “Voice of Democracy” Public Speaking Competition working with the young people in the community; Past Noble Grand of the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 14 of Blair, and a member of the American Legion.

His main hobbies were fishing, playing cards, sports and visiting with his many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; daughter, Margaret Lynn; son-in-law S. Sgt. Robert Crogan; and 2 granddaughters – Michelle Lynn and Teresa Hope Rogan all of Rantoul, Illinois; two brothers – Darwin of Omaha, Nebraska and William of Miami Springs, Florida, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends, as well as many young folks to whom he was just “Pops”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
