M. Naomi Maxwell, 82, of Craig, passed away early on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair after a brief illness.

Naomi was born on Feb. 19, 1906 at Berta, Ne. to Andrew and Bertha (Potter) Leander.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Maxwell on Sept. 6, 1924 at Missouri Valley, Ia. Mr. Maxwell passed away on March 6 1968.

Naomi worked as a cook for the Tekamah Senior Citizens Home for over 17 years. She was a member of the Country Women’s Club, the Town and Country Club, and was a longtime member of the Craig United Methodist Church, having been active in the United Methodist Church Women’s Society, and Treasurer of the Women’s Society since 1940.

Survivors include two sons, Vernon and Vaden Maxwell; and one daughter, Yvonne (Mrs. Bill) Anderson, all of Tekamah; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Kirk Leander and Eugene Leander, and one son in infancy.

Funeral services were held on Nov. 26 at the Craig United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Hal Smith officiating. Interment was in the Craig Cemetery.
