William Miller Died At His Home Thursday

William H. Miller, long-time resident, saw mill operator and fisherman, died at his home Thursday following a lingering illness. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Miller was born at Blair August 9, 1887 and lived here virtually his entire life.

He had a life-long love for the Missouri River and almost all of his activities centered about the river area. For years he operated a sawmill and for a time he conducted a very substantial business cutting lumber from abandoned river piling which engineers had turned loose upstream. He was an ardent fisherman and spent much of his time in quest of members of the finey tribe.

He owned a number of tracts of land adjacent to the river.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, and by two sons, William L. Miller and Marlon A. Miller. A daughter preceded him in death. There are three grandchildren and one great grandchild who survive.

In addition, a sister, Mrs. Etta Smith, of St. Louis, Mo., is living and a brother Bert Miller, lives at National City, California.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Richard Davison conducting the service. Burial, under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pall Bearers were Clarence Brundage, Sam Moore, Albert Boyce, Chris Schmidt, Allan Schmidt and Bill Schmidt.
