Funeral services were held in Hastings at the Chapel of the Good Samarian Village Wednesday, September 5, for Fern Viola Pedersen, age 79, who died at the Good Shepherd Home on Saturday, September 1, 1990. Burial was in the Hastings Cemetery. Fern Viola Pedersen was born on August 25, 1911 to Albert and Nettie (Lovaas) Hanson at Astoria, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Astoria, South Dakota.

She married Carl M. Pedersen on June 8, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and her parents.

Two children: Karen Winans, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dale James, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and three grandchildren survive. She is also survived by three brothers and four sisters, one of whom is Florence (Mrs. Clifford T.) Hanson of Blair.

Fern was member of First Lutheran Church in Blair, where a Memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 4.
