David O. Richards, 80, of Omaha, died Jan. 30, 2002, at Life Care Center of Omaha.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 4, at the Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Diffee officiating. Interment, with full military honors provided by the Benson V.F.W. Post No. 2503, was at Evergreen Cemetery.

David O. Richards was born July 23, 1921, in Norfolk to David F. and Hattie (Appel) Richards.

He served in the Army during World War II. He was employed as a truck driver for a grocery store chain.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Brian D. and Kelly Richards of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Balaban of Blair; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie (Thompson) Richards.

Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association.
