HENRY RICHTER, FORMER BLAIRITE, DIED SUNDAY

EARLY SETTLER OF BLAIR, LATER OF SOUTH DAKOTA

Henry Richter, formerly well known in Blair, where for years he was connected with the brick business, died in an Omaha hospital Sunday at the age of seventy-eight years.

The Richters, for a long term of years, operated a brick yard west of Blair on the grounds where the Fred Long home now stands. Henry, Ott, Jack and Chris were the brothers actively engaged in the work, and Ott is the only one left of the family. He resides with his son, John, in Louisiana but makes an occasional trip back to his old stamping grounds.

Henry went to South Dakota along about 1904 or ’05 and homesteaded there and had since made that place his home. At the time of his death he was living at Wood, South Dakota. He was married to a Blair girl, Lena Hansen, and as far as the writer can learn, she is still living as are a large family of children. The children are Mrs. Fremont Elston of Calfornia; Mrs. Clara Devorss, of Denver; Harold, of Denver; Howard and Henry of Wood, South Dakota; Mrs. Harold Jurgensen, Witten, South Dakota; Louie of Omaha; Mrs. Andrew Nielsen of Blair and Mrs. Clifford Smith of Dallas, South Dakota.

Burial will be made at Winner, South Dakota.
