Eric J. Musgjerd, 50, of Omaha, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013.

Services were at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Eric J. Musgjerd was born Sept. 21, 1963, in Anchorage, Alaska, to William and Judith Musgjerd.

Being the son of a military pilot, he lived in many places growing up. He graduated from Plattsmouth High School and received his BSBA from Creighton University and MBA from the University of Nebraska Omaha.

He was employed by several Omaha businesses before joining First National Bank of Omaha as vice president of commercial real estate lending.

He was an avid runner and bicyclist and competed in events nationally and locally.

Mr. Musgjerd also volunteered as a girls basketball coach and was an avid Creighton basketball fan.

He served as treasurer of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Burke Band Boosters. He volunteered for more than 10 years with the Greater Omaha YMCA and in 2010 served as chief volunteer officer, chairman of the board and chief of the search committee for the YMCA's chief executive officer.

Mr. Musgjerd's Christian faith and his family were the core of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen (Iseminger) Musgjerd, formerly of Blair; daughters Kaia and Kelsey; parents William and Judith Musgjerd; sisters: Kathy Musgjerd, Susan (Lee) Knapp and Betsy (Brian) Sittig; and parents-in-law Jim and LeAnn Iseminger of Blair.

He was employed with Swanson Corp, Mutual of Omaha, Commercial Federal Bank, and for the last 13 years at First National Bank of Omaha as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending. Eric was an avid runner and bicyclist and competed in events nationally and locally. He also volunteered as a girls basketball coach and served as Treasurer for St. Mark Lutheran Church and Burke Band Boosters. He volunteered for over 10 years with the Greater Omaha YMCA and in 2010 served as Chief Volunteer Officer, Chairman of the Board, and chief of the search committee for the YMCA CEO. Eric's Christian faith and his family were the core of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Karen (Iseminger) Musgjerd; daughters, Kaia and Kelsey; parents, William and Judith Musgjerd; sisters, Kathy Musgjerd, Susan (Lee) Knapp, and Betsy (Brian) Sittig; and had close relationships with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL SERVICE 11am Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N. 90th St.

VISITATION Wednesday 4-7pm at Westlawn Hillcrest Funeral Home. Memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Greater Omaha YMCA, or Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
