BERT C. RICKARD, 95

Bert C. Rickard, age 95, of Tekamah, died Saturday, May 27, 1989 at the Logan Valley Care Center in Lyons, Nebraska, where he had been a resident for the past five years.

Bert was born on February 28, 1894 at Fort Calhoun, Nebraska to Jerome and Laura C. Fulk Rickard. He married Bessie Peasley on November 23, 1921.

Mrs. Rickard preceded him in death on April 19, 1978.

The couple lived in River Sioux, Iowa for many years prior to coming to Tekamah in 1977. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War I, Bert also worked for several farmers in the River Sioux area before retiring.

Survivors include four sisters, Jennie McKercher, Pearl (Mrs. Ted) Anderson, Mamie (Mrs. Allen) Schmidt, and Patty Simones, all of Tekamah; two brothers, Fred and Dennis Saltzman, both of Tekamah; several nieces and nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bessie; one sister, Wanda Morrow; and three brothers, Jerome Rickard, Max Saltzman, and Jack Saltzman.

Graveside Funeral Services were June 1, at the Tekamah Cemetery with Rev. Marion H. Knoell officiating.
