ELISABETH A. BABBITT, 59

Elisabeth A. Babbitt, 59, of Blair, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services were Thursday, April 17, at Country Bible Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.

Elisabeth Ann Babbitt was born November 30, 1943, in Shreveport, LA., to Harry F. and Gladys (Shirley) Rogers. She graduated from Woodland High School in Shreveport in 1961. On May 17, 1969, she was united in marriage to Eldon Rex Babbitt in the First Baptist Church in Shreveport.

The Babbitts have resided in Blair for more than 20 years. Mrs. Babbitt was a stay-at-home wife and mother for most of her marriage. She did fashion consulting and was later employed at OPPD and Cargill for several years.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994, Mrs. Babbitt took personal interest in her own treatment. She became very dedicated to finding alternative treatments for her own condition and to helping others.

Her passion was cooking. She experimented with new eating plans using soy products. She eventually wrote and published a cookbook in order to share some of her soy recipes.

Her home of Christ was Country Bible Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of Christian Women's Club, and was a participant in numerous Bible studies.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; son and daughter-in-law, Rex Allen and Sarah Babbitt, and a granddaughter, all of Blair; two brothers-in-law, Ellis Babbitt of Blair and Kenneth Neil of Houston.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
