Christine C. (Howe) Franko, 92, of Blair, formerly of Hinsdale and Naperville, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her home.

Services were Monday, Oct. 14, at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home in Naperville and a Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Naperville. Interment was in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Naperville.

She was born February 27, 1921, in Chicago to Al and Christine Howe.

She grew up in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, attended St. Rita Grade School and was a graduate of Lindblom High School.

On July 6, 1946, she married Andrew W. Franko.

She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville and was a former member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Hinsdale.

She was a talented seamstress and will be remembered for her great love of family. Her fondest excursions were a ride in an open cockpit airplane on a cedar runway at Midway Airport and her ride in a combine harvesting corn in Blair.

She is survived by children: Marilyn (Ken) Scott of Naperville, Barbara (Buzz) Franko Chapman of Irvine, Calif., Tina Barry of Naperville, Andrea (Steve Dion) Franko of Carson City, Nev., and Lisa Scardino of Blair; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister MaryLee Hilger of Oak Lawn, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew W. Franko, on Aug. 4, 1986; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Vermona Howe and brother-in-law Jim Hilger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gentiva Hospice in Fremont.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair and Friedrich Jones Funeral Home in Naperville were in charge of arrangements.
