Robert “Bob” Suverkrubbe, 61, of Blair, died Friday, Oct. 11, at his home in rural Blair.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the German Cemetery. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Robert Alan Suverkrubbe was born March 31, 1952, to Russell and Phyllis (Andersen) Suverkrubbe and grew up with his two brothers and sister on the family farm south of Blair.

He attended Maney School and later graduated from Blair High School with the Class of 1970. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Regents Scholar before beginning a plumbing and electrical apprenticeship with Harvey Hansen.

On Aug. 14, 1971, he married Candace Rhoades, and later built a home across the road from the family farm.

He spent the next 40 years performing electrical, plumbing and repair work for clients throughout Washington County, partnering with his son, Nathan, for the last eight years. He was a natural problem-solver and drew great satisfaction from fixing anything and everything, as well as sharing his knowledge with his family. In the course of his work, he appreciated getting to know his clients, many of whom became his friends throughout the years.

At home, he found his greatest pleasure reading the paper with his family around the table, listening to their conversation, playing cards or working on puzzles together. His family will miss his knowledge and wit, and the constant love and support shown to his grandchildren, who could always count on their "Bobpa” to be watching their games and recitals or acting as their cook, toy repairman or playmate.

He is survived by Candace and their three children, three grandsons and three granddaughters: daughter and son-in-law Melinda and Martin Rump of Blair and their sons, Morgan and Maxwell; daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Rod Madsen of Lincoln and their son, Austin, and daughter, Roselynn; and son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Melissa Suverkrubbe of rural Blair and their daughters, Lillian and Cecelia; his mother, Phyllis Suverkrubbe of Blair; and his younger brother, Steve Suverkrubbe of Omaha. He was also survived by the family of Candace: her parents Kenneth and Virginia Rhoades of Blair, her brother and sister-in-law Mark and Betty Rhoades of Blair, and her sister and brother-in-law Penny and Mike Overmann of Elkhorn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Suverkrubbe; sister Susan; and brother Bruce.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bob Suverkrubbe Memorial Fund at Two Rivers Bank to help fulfill an expressed wish of Bob's: to install lighting to illuminate the American flag at Blair High School's Krantz Field.
