Services for Joshua A. Ring, age 94 of Blair who died September 2, 1992 at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa were Saturday, September 5 at the First United Methodist Church in Blair. Burial was in the Cheney Cemetery, Cheney, Nebraska. A Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Joshua A. Ring was born April 26, 1898 at Cheney, Nebraska to William and Marian Gove Ring. He attended school in Cheney and the Ag College at Lincoln.

On March 22, 1924 he married Winifred Elkins at Stockham, Nebraska. They farmed in the Cheney area until 1937 at which time they moved to a farm southwest of Modale, Iowa. In 1944 they moved to a farm northwest of Modale. He retired from farming in 1976 and moved to Blair, Nebraska.

He was involved in several organizations, including the Farm Bureau, Rural Electric Coop at Woodbine, Iowa and Creamery Board at Logan, Iowa. He was a 50-year member of the Modale American Legion, Snyder-Irmie Post No. 695 at Modale, Iowa. He served during World War One, was a member of the Acmode Masonic Lodge No. 544 AF & AM at Modale, and the Nebraska Mayflower Society. He served on the Modale Centennial committee and was a member of Harrison County Historical Society, Blair Over Sixty Center, and the Modale and Blair United Methodist Churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Winifred in 1988; an infant son and daughter; a son, Clinton; three sisters and one brother.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Lorraine Ring of Rock Island, Illinois; Gail and Dolores Ring of Missouri Valley; and Jim and Theresa Ring of Blair; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Dorothy Ring of Lincoln.

The family suggests memorials to the Modale Methodist or Blair Methodist Churches.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
