Services for Winifred Ring were held Monday, May 23, 1988, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Howard Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Cheney Cemetery at rural Lincoln.

C. Winifred Ring was born on July 21, 1899, at Percival, Iowa, to James H. and Evelyn Rogers Elkins. They moved to Stockham, Nebraska, when she was four years old.

She attended Peru State College. Later taught school.

On March 22, 1924, she was united in marriage to Joshua Ring in Stockham.

They farmed at Cheney until 1933, when they moved to Prairie Home, Nebraska, living there until moving to Modale, Iowa, in 1937.

In 1976, they retired and moved to Blair where she resided until her death on Thursday, May 19, 1988 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Winifred was a member of First United Methodist Church; member of Modale, Iowa Eastern Star; member of Modale American Legion Auxiliary and Gold Star Mother; member of Blair War Mothers; and member of the Grange; and active in the Harrison County Farm Bureau.

She is survived by her husband, Joshua; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Lorraine Ring, Rock Island, Illinois; Gail and Dolores Ring, Missouri Valley, Iowa; and Jim and Teri Ring of Omaha. She is survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Winifred was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Clinton, Norma, and Paul; by one brother, Carlos Alfred Elkins and one sister, Lillian Roberta Elkins.
