A prayer service for Edith L. Kroeger, 96, was held May 9, 2003, at Braman Mortuary in Omaha. Interment was at the German Cemetery on May 10. Mrs. Kroeger died Tuesday, May 7, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha.

Edith Louella Jahnel Kroeger was born Sept. 12, 1905, in Blair to Maude and Frank Jahnel. She attended Blair High School and, after graduation, taught school for many years.

In 1927, she married Dave Kroeger, and the couple farmed north of Bennington. Her husband died in 1956, and Mrs. Kroeger moved to Omaha after her son’s marriage. She worked at a hospital laundry until she retired at the age of 65.

Mrs. Kroeger enjoyed working in her yard and tending her roses. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very independent and drove her car until Saturday, May 4. She became ill on May 5, and died on May 7. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Sheila Kroeger of Bennington, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
